What is Dyslexia Action

Dyslexia Action is a national charity that takes action to change the lives of people with dyslexia and literacy difficulties.

We want a world where barriers to learning, employment and fulfilment have been removed for people with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties.

Dyslexia can affect anyone of any age. It is estimated that 10% of people over 16 in the UK alone have dyslexia to some degree. It is our aim to remove the barriers facing those with dyslexia by providing help and support to those with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties.

For many people, a formal identification of a specific learning difficulty is a turning point and can be a huge relief as it allow you to access the help and support needed to address an individual need.

This section of the website allows you to view information, access our support services and advice relevant to you.

All Dyslexia Action Centres offer free half-hour consultations as well as assessments, screenings, tuition and consultancy. To contact your local centre, click find us.

You can help change the lives of those with dyslexia.

We take action to change the lives of the 1 in 10 people affected by dyslexia in the UK, from providing specialist tuition for somebody who could not otherwise access it, to lobbying Government for greater support for the dyslexic community. There are so many ways you can get involved, from giving your time, your energysupporting others or helping us to create awareness.

Without your support this life changing work would not be possible. You can see some of the people we help, or share your story in our It's Me! section.

There are so ways that you can help us to support others. You can choose from one of the ways above, or get in touch with us with an idea of your own.

As a charity, we rely heavily on the generosity of others, if you would like to help us financially, you can chose to donate or leave a legacy. Don't forget that there are plenty of other ways to give as well.
