What is The Mystery of the Lost Letters?
A revolutionary tri-lingual multi-media tool that, for the first time ever, will help young dyslexics discover how they learn best. This unique CD-Rom self-help tool which stars Tintin and Snowy, has been produced by the BBC, in conjunction with leading European dyslexia experts and the vital input of a group of young dyslexics.
Who is it aimed at?
It is estimated that well over 12 million children across Europe suffer from dyslexia. Their difficulties with writing, memory and organisation often go unrecognised, resulting in isolation and continual failure. The Mystery of the Lost Letters is aimed at dyslexics aged 8-13 years and their mentors, teachers or parents, with the first edition in French, English and German.

The Mystery of the Lost Letters boosts morale and enables dyslexic learners to tap into their individual giftedness. The engaging adventure masks a sophisticated diagnostic tool which builds a profile of how the user learns best - cognitively, socially and environmentally. It then offers positive feedback on how to build on strengths, and gives advice on how to cope with weaknesses.
How do you play?
The fun interactive tool invites youngsters to join trusty Tintin and faithful Snowy on a quest to find Professor Calculus. Hide and seek in the Hall of Fame reveals seven highly successful dyslexic celebrities who tell their stories - including architect Lord Richard Rogers, poet Benjamin Zephaniah and eight-time world memory champion Dominic O'Brien. The learners' explore how they learn best through a series of engaging quizzes. First they go into the The Hall of Mirrors, and then they go on to face the challenges in the Dangerous Dungeons to find out how to overcome their learning difficulties, before scaling the Tower of Triumph.
How can teachers and parents help?
For best results, it is recommended that the learner is accompanied by a mentor - either a teacher, learning assistant or parent.
