“When I was approached to be President for Dyslexia Action, I saw it as a great honour – not only because of the amazing work the charity does but also because as someone who has dyslexia and understands all the difficulties it can bring, I felt that I could really help get the message out there and make people aware of dyslexia and of Dyslexia Action. In my position as someone who works in the media world, from my TV shows to my live talks, I believe that I can really help and benefit raising awareness about Dyslexia Action by talking to the people I meet about my own experiences and the work that Dyslexia Action does.
I’m very passionate about the charity and as someone who has lived with dyslexia all their life, I am so happy that I can help spread understanding about dyslexia and let others know that they are not alone and that they are not the only ones finding life difficult because of their dyslexia. I believe that it is important that we keep getting the message out there and this is something I will continue to do in the future – people who need us will only know we are there if we let them know so that is my number one goal.
Also, times are hard at the moment which makes it even more important that we focus on fundraising so that Dyslexia Action can continue to support children with dyslexia and to also identify children in schools who need our support and help. I look forward to working with Dyslexia Action in the future and continuing to be part of the brilliant work the charity does. I have been to visit some projects run by Dyslexia Action around the country which help people of all ages from as young as 7 up to 70 years old. A little bit of support and help can change these people’s lives forever and make them more confident and ready to tackle the world of words. ”
