It may also be of interest to those working in Further Education and Higher Education.

Why attend?Load2Learn, the DfE funded project led by Dyslexia Action working with RNIB, is hosting a series of open training days entitled; “Using technology to help students with print disabilities”.

The day has been designed to be informative and interactive and is led by experts from Dyslexia Action and RNIB.

The programme will include:

  • A summary of research findings and the difference that technology can make, including case studies of how technology has helped students' learning
  • An overview of assistive technologies that are free to use at school or in the home

    • Adults with dyslexia
    • Adults with an interest in how dyslexia affects everyday life
    • Anyone who wants to understand how awareness of dyslexic issues can contribute to positive change.

    Attendees do not need to have an official diagnosis of dyslexia to attend this session.

    Why attend?This free event will be run by Sarah Genai and Teresa Hopkins, two passionate volunteers and supporters of Dyslexia Action who have first hand experience of dyslexia both personally and profressionally.

    It is an opportunity to

    • Gain insight and look at the effects that traditional beliefs about dyslexia in our education system and wider socitety have on dyslexic people.
    • Talk about "the gifts" of dyslexia

    • Adults with dyslexia or literacy difficulties
    • Adults who thinks that they may have dyslexia or have concerns about their literacy skills


    Why attend?Due to the generous donation by Co-op Community Fund we are able to offer a free parents course at our Liverpool Centre. 


    This three hour course will cover the following topics:

    • Meet other parents.
    • Share your experiences

    Programme    This course is made up of 7 x 2 hour sessions on Thursday evenings, 7:00-9:00pm.

    Parents will attend sessions 1-5 and 7 (without their children). Parents and their child with dyslexia will attend session 6 together.

    Why attend?This 6-week course will help learners to improve their maths multiplication skills and will cover:

    • Multiplication of whole numbers (including multiplication square)

    • Gaining an understanding of multiplication with decimals and fraction

    Why attend?The Dyslexia Action Bath Centre's Adult Support Group is an informal group session run by Teresa Hopkins, a volunteer who has herself been diagnosed with dyslexia.

    Join us for a coffee/tea and:

    • Meet other local adults who have, or suspect they may have, dyslexia
    • Discuss dyslexia concerns in an open forum
    • Talk about personal achievements and how individuals have overcome their difficulties
    • Share experiences and advice amongst the group

     

    The sessions are informal and the members will shape the way the group moves forward.
