Who are these Courses Suitable for?
Dyslexia Action online Continuing Professional Development courses have been designed to strengthen the expertise and confidence of adult learning specialists, tutors and learning support staff, teachers and teaching assistants in the UK and overseas. You can opt to study individual Units or Awards which are made up of three Units. Two Awards are combined to form a Certificate. Applicants should be:
- Qualified and/or experienced tutors, study skills tutors or learning support staff, teachers or teaching assistants and be currently (or recently within the last 2 years) employed to work with learners in the UK or internationally.
- Be qualified to at least level 3 (‘A’ level) on the UK qualifications framework or have other equivalent qualifications and relevant experience. Teaching assistants must be mentored by a qualified teaching professional whilst on the course

How the courses work
This Certificate course is made up of two individual Awards. Study either 3 individual Units for each Award or book all 3 Units at the same time and make a saving of £30. Full fees are given in the downloadable syllabus below.

How are the courses delivered and what are the benefits of studying online?
The courses are delivered online which offers you the flexibility to organise your time to fit around your professional and personal commitments. It also saves you the time and expense of travel and attendance. Tutor support is offered throughout the duration of the induction and 6 week course.

Study Support Tutors DfE NMH Requirements
Did you know that as part of the new DfE requirements for Study Support Tutors (Non-Medical Helpers) we may accept qualified and experienced study skills tutors into professional membership based on Accreditation of Prior Experience and Learning (APEL). Further information can be found under Membership Grades. This Certificate is a suitable qualification for DfE approved Professional Membership eligibility.
