Kenny Logan and 95.8 Capital FM DJs open new London Centre
04 November 2011
Dyslexia Action staff, learners and volunteers celebrated the official opening of our London Centre's Help a Capital Child Learning Room with
Kenny Logan
, DJs from 95.8 Capital FM
Roberto
and
Margherita
and representatives from Help a Capital
Child.
With the support and funding from
95.8 Capital FM’s Help a Capital Child (HACC
), Dyslexia Action London has relocated from premises near Victoria to rooms within RNIB’s head office at Judd Street. The Help a Capital Child Learning Room has been fitted with new computers, furniture and other equipment; providing a learning environment for children, young people and adults across the capital who have a hidden disability such as dyslexia or literacy difficulties.
The HACC Learning Room will also provide a base for Dyslexia Action’s Catch Up Club. This is a project aimed at helping children and young people in London aged 12-17 years improve their reading and spelling skills. Commencing this month (November, 2011), the Club is free to attend and will consist of 1 hour sessions on Monday - Thursday, 4 - 5pm and 5 - 6pm; and on Fridays 4 - 5pm.
Dalton Leong, Managing Director of 95.8 Capital FM’s Help a Capital Child comments:
“We are delighted to have partnered with Dyslexia Action to fund the Help a Capital Child Learning Room and we hope the new learning facilities will create a real legacy by reaching children and young people across London, and enabling them to develop their literacy skills. In particular we are pleased that the Catch Up Club will target young people from London’s most deprived boroughs, with the aim of improving their academic, employment and life opportunities, as well as their self-esteem and confidence.”
For further information about the Catch Up Club and the services available to people of all ages in the London area please contact Dyslexia Action’s London Centre: london@dyslexiaaction.org.uk / 020 7391 2030.
