Evidence that will improve our economy and the lives of millions of children in the UK

18 January 2011

This afternoon (Tuesday 18th January, 2011) Dyslexia Action will brief MP’s, Lords and Ministers on the findings from its four year intervention research programme, Partnership for Literacy.

The evidence shows that this programme delivers a whole school approach to literacy, improving standards for all primary school children but particularly supporting the 20% of children with the lowest literacy levels. Out of the 970 children, who made up the lowest 20% in Years 2 – 5 from 35 primary schools across the UK, approximately half moved from below average to average in reading in just 8 months. This is double the expected rate of progress.

Please listen to BBC Radio Surrey's Breakfast show, to hear our CEO Shirley Cramer and Jan Keating SENCO at New Haw Community Junior School (P4L partner) discuss P4L.
