Dyslexia Action Awards Dinner raises over £150,000

As well as honouring designer Steve Edge, The Saturdays’ Mollie King, It’s ME! Learning Fund beneficiary Kimberley Ward and ex-CEO of Dyslexia Action Shirley Cramer, CBE, tonight’s fundraiser has been a huge success.Chaired by rugby legend Kenny Logan and hosted by his wife, sports presenter Gabby Logan, tonight’s event is the 10th Anniversary of Dyslexia Action’s Awards Dinner. This is a fundraising evening that aims to raise money to help ensure that individuals and families affected by hidden disabilities such as dyslexia can access the right support.


The evening is also an opportunity to recognise the achievements of those affected by dyslexia; as well as thanking those who have made a real difference to those affected.

This year’s honourees include:

The Young Person’s Award went to Kimberley Ward (16), who is an It’s ME! Learning Fund beneficiary; she receives help and support at Dyslexia Action’s Bath Centre.



Steve Edge for his contributions to design. Steve also provided the design for the event's invitations and programme.




The It’s ME! Choice Award went to Mollie King.



The Lady Radnor Award for services to dyslexia went to Shirley Cramer, CBE, who was the Chief Executive Officer of Dyslexia Action from 2000 to March 2011.




Run by Lord Harry Dalmeny of Sotheby’s the night’s Live Auction raised over £100,000; with some exclusive lots such as a day’s experience with the bomb disposal experts and a dance workshop with the professional dancers from Strictly Come Dancing James and Ola Jordan.

Guests were treated to entertainment from 4 Poofs and a Piano, Justin Coe and the Jersey Boys.

Attendees included the star of BBC documentary ‘Don’t Call Me Stupid’ Kara Tointon; ‘The Apprentice’ winner Tom Pellereau; Adventurer and President of Dyslexia Action Charley Boorman; Strictly Come Dancing’s Artem Chigvintsev and actress Ali Bastian.
